in camera
If I engaged a viewer in a mindless, repetitive task, would they- like the women in a Vermeer painting- get to a mindspace that made them indifferent to being looked at? For in camera, a remote space in the loft of the gallery was staged like a Vermeer painting. Visitors were invited to sort buttons or fold cloth while their image was live-streamed to a screen in the main gallery, becoming another piece of art on display alongside paintings. In this installation, the viewer becomes the viewed.
